Have you wondered how everything at St. Scholastica School gets accomplished?
Do you have ideas that you’d like to share but aren’t sure where to start?
Do you have one hour once or twice a month that you could spare?
If you can answer yes to any of these questions, we need you!
My name is Jeanette Charon, and I am the School Board Vice President for the 2010-2011 school year. We are looking for more fantastic parents and parishioners to participate in the well-being of our school. We need new members to join our committees to bring fresh ideas and opportunities for growth in our school.
The following are committee descriptions. If you are interested, please give the school a call and they will forward the information to me.
FINANCE COMMITTEE: The purpose of this committee is to assist the Pastor and Principal in determining the yearly budget. Included in this process is a yearly assessment of the tuition for the following school year. Throughout the year the finance committee reviews monthly income statements and monitors fundraising.
OPERATIONS COMMITTEE: The Operations Committee is responsible for overseeing the physical plant of the school. The physical plant consists of the physical structure of the school buildings, improvements in the building, ceiling, floors, electrical, plumbing, walls, hallways, and other associated items. As such, the committee works closely with the parish building and maintenance organizations. The committee annually updates and reviews the school’s 5-year report and performs bi-annual inspections of the school. The committee meets every three months or as needed.
CONTSTITUTION/DISCERNMENT COMMITTEE: This committee is responsible for reviewing the Parent Handbook and Policy book and athletic guidelines. In addition, this committee annually reviews the constitution and by-laws. Finally, the function of this committee is to plan and execute a process by which new board members are selected.
MARKETING COMMITTEE: The Marketing Committee functions as the public relations of the school. Its primary concern is communication with school families, parish families and the Woodridge community. Each month the committee contacts local papers for coverage about newsworthy school events. The committee is also responsible for coordinating the dissemination of information about fundraising events such as the Auction/Dinner, MANNA, and Market Day. The committee periodically reviews the school brochure. The committee oversees the Mentor/Mentee program established for all new school families. A future goal of this committee is to enhance the school website.
DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE: The Development Committee is responsible for overseeing and helping with all fundraising efforts on behalf of the school’s operating budget. In addition, the committee confers with the finance committee to assess the fundraising needs for the year and coordinates additional efforts as needed. This committee is also responsible for coordinating efforts to fundraise for St. Scholastica.
