Dear Parents :

The St. Scholastica and St. Dominic cross country program is conducting a parent and student meeting for any
athlete interested in participating on our cross country team in the fall next year.   The informational meeting is scheduled for next Wednesday, June 2nd at the St. Scholastica Parish Center, in the Art Room on the second floor
at 7:00 pm.  We will provide more information at this time. Early registration will also be conducted.

Cross country consists of long distance running over grass and varying terrain.  The only equipment necessary is a pair of running shoes and a warm-up or sweat suit.  This a great sport that creates excellent base conditioning for other sports as well, such as basketball.

No running experience is necessary and all are welcome with any ability. There is a no cut policy. Your child does not have to be a good runner; our program will develop him/her into one.

The season begins in the second week of August. We are members of the Suburban Parochial League,
which has 24 school members. There are a total of 5 Saturday morning meets from Labor Day weekend through
the first weekend of October.  The varsity program may compete in 2-3 other meets as the schedule is not
yet finalized.  5th grade competes at a distance of one mile, 6th grade runs 1 1/2 miles, while 7th and 8th grade run 2 miles.

We look forward to seeing you at the meeting. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions beforehand.

Thank You,
